She first outdid herself by building a 64-page scavenger hunt booklet (which we’ve published, spiral-bound, and packed for our trip) to gameify our 3,300 mile adventure. In a future post, I’ll share more about this.
For her second trick, today Carolyn created “You are all kinds of awesome” coupons. The idea behind these is to reward great behavior, while concurrently limiting screen time (e.g. phone, PC, TV).
Subject to “blackout dates,” (for example, if we’re mid-visit to the Grand Canyon) a coupon earns the recipient 15 minutes of unfettered screen time.
Multiple coupons can be combined to increase total time, but all minutes must be consumed in a single block – no refunds, no exchanges, and definitely no in-and-out privileges.
We’ll see how it works. In the meantime, I’m sure Carolyn is already thinking about her next AWESOME scheme.
In fact, I think I’ll go give her a coupon right now!
Way more charming than I deserve!!!
